5 Test Particles with Acceleration - Dependent
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider a classical test particle subject to electromagnetic and gravitational fields, described by a Lagrangian depending on the acceleration and on a fundamental length. We associate to the particle a moving local reference frame and we study its trajectory in the principal fibre bundle of all the Lorentz frames. We discuss in this framework the general form of the Lagrange equations and the connection between symmetries and conservation laws (Noether theorem). We apply these results to a model, already discussed by other authors, which implies an upper bound to the proper acceleration and to another new model in which a similar quantity, called " pseudo-acceleration " , is bounded. With some simple choices of the fields, we illustrate some other interesting properties of the models and we show that unwanted features may appear, as instable runaway solutions and unphysical values of the energy-momentum or of the velocity.

Design Spectrum for Near Fault Ground Motions Considering Frequency-Dependence of CH/SC Material Behavior Regarding Laboratory and Field Shear Wave Velocity (Vs)
Introduction One-dimensional site response analysis is widely performed to account for local site effects during an earthquake. Most of these approaches assume that dynamic soil properties are frequency independent. Laboratory test results as well as in-situ testing show that shear modulus and damping ratio are dependent on the frequency of loading. Although the amplification factor at ground ...

A numerical scheme that incorporates a thermal leakage injection model into a combined gas dynamics and cosmic ray (CR, hereafter) diffusion-convection code has been developed. The hydro/CR code can follow in a very cost-effective way the evolution of CR modified planar quasi-parallel shocks by adopting subzone shocktracking and multi-level adaptive mesh refinement techniques. An additional con...
متن کاملA Novel Approach to Non linear Shock Acceleration
First order Fermi acceleration at astrophysical shocks is often invoked as a mechanism for the generation of non-thermal particles. This mechanism is especially simple in the approximation that the accelerated particles behave like test particles, not affecting the shocked fluid. Many complications enter the calculations when the accelerated particles have a backreaction on the fluid, in which ...
متن کاملNonlinear Particle Acceleration in Relativistic Shocks
Monte Carlo techniques are used to model nonlinear particle acceleration in parallel collisionless shocks of various speeds, including mildly relativistic ones. When the acceleration is efficient, the backreaction of accelerated particles modifies the shock structure and causes the compression ratio, r, to increase above test-particle values. Modified shocks with Lorentz factors, γ0 . 3, can ha...
متن کاملOn the possible reason for non-detection of TeV-protons in SNRs
The theory of shock acceleration predicts the maximum particle energy to be limited only by the acceleration time and the size (geometry) of the shock. This led to optimistic estimates for the galactic cosmic ray energy achievable in the SNR shocks. The estimates imply that the accelerated particles, while making no strong impact on the shock structure (test particle approach) are nevertheless ...
